Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines the benefits of football scholarship with volunteering for the community. First of all the Selmons were brought up by Lucious as well as Jessie Selmon, on a farm near Eufala within Oklahoma as one of the nine children they had. The second football was that Selmon is the youngest of three brothers to play for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. In 1973, Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards and Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in all of the nation. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy as the starter. They also won two national championships. Selmon was a National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given an award for his third season in 1975. Selmon received a diploma in education. Fourth-year service in the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. In Tampa where he played, he joined the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Also, he began an entrepreneurial career. By 1988, he became an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also a part of the following organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of the most notable young men. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and stood at a height of 7-foot-2. While he was in college, he was the captain of the team of 1975. In 1993, he joined the University of South Florida's athletic department as the Director of Athletics as an associate. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave the Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
