Selena Marie Gomez (/s@/li:n@/ 'goUmez/s@–LEE/ GOH-m on July 22, 1992) was an American actor, singer and producer. Gomez started her acting career on the children's television series Barney & Friends (2002-2004). She became famous for her role as Alex Russo, a teenage character in the Disney Channel television show Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-12). Alongside her television career, Gomez appeared in the films Another Cinderella Story (2008), Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2009), Ramona and Beezus (2010), Monte Carlo (2011), Spring Breakers (2012), Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016), and The Dead Don't Die (2019) in which she voiced Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania film franchise (2012-2022). Gomez was the executive producer of Netflix's 13 Reasons Why (2017-2020) and Undocumented (2018). Undocumented (2018) through July Moon Productions. She also has a role in the Hulu mystery-comedy show Only Murders in the Building (21-21-222). The latter series earned Gomez high praise from critics, as well as nominations for the Golden Globe Award, and as a producer as well as a Primetime Emmy Award . Gomez was previously in Selena Gomez & the Scene released three albums. All of them reached the top 10 of the US Billboard 200. The albums were all certified gold and were awarded the Recording Industry Association of America's (RIAA). Stars Dance (2013) was her first solo album. Billboard 200, and its main track "Come and Get It" made it to the top ten on the US Billboard Hot 100. Gomez has released Revival (2015), her second studio album. The album debuted at number one in America and was certified platinum. Three top ten US songs were recorded out of Revival: "Good for You", the "Same Old Love" single as well as "Hands to Myself". Rare (2020) which was her third studio album was her third consecutive album to be a top-ten hit in the US. The lead track, "Lose You To Love Me", was her first top-ten hit song across both the US and Canada. Revelacion the Spanish-language EP, was released in 2021. She received a nomination to the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album. She has been awarded numerous awards and was named Billboard's Women of the Year in 2017 and also broke 15 Guinness World Records. Time magazine named Her one of the 100 most powerful people in the world in 2020. She has a huge following on social media and is the most followed actress and musician on Instagram. Gomez's other ventures include clothing, makeup, handbag and fragrance brands. From the age of 17 she has been a UNICEF ambassador and has also been involved in a variety of charitable organizations.
